One of Switzerland's most spectacular and fiery traditions. On the Sunday evening before Basel's Morgenstreich, thousands pack the dark medieval streets of Liestal as brave torch-bearers march through the historic town gate carrying blazing hundred-pound bundles of burning pine wood ('Chienbäse') and glowing iron fire wagons.
