One of Switzerland's oldest and most atmospheric winter customs. Night after night between Christmas and New Year, groups of bell-ringers ('Trychler') in traditional linen and sheepskin march in a slow, hypnotic step through Meiringen and surrounding Haslital villages to drive away dark winter spirits, culminating in the legendary 'Ubersitz' celebration on December 30.
