An extraordinary, archaic Christmas Eve custom in the Baselbiet village of Ziefen. At exactly 9:00 PM on December 24, all streetlights and house illumination in the village are extinguished into complete darkness. A silent procession of men wearing towering cylinder top hats and carrying massive pasture bells marches through the pitch-black streets in synchronized, eerie resonance.
