A magnificent traditional procession heralding Advent in Lucerne. Hundreds of whip-crackers ('Geislechlepfer'), lantern carriers ('Iffelen'), brass bands, and dozens of Samichlaus and Schmutzli figures march through the historic streets from the Hofkirche to the lakefront, distributing nuts and mandarins to children.
