Chlauseslä is one of the oldest customs of the Ägerital, held on the eve of St. Nicholas Day. Groups called Rottä walk from house to house with Samichlaus, Schmutzli, huge illuminated mitre lanterns (Iffälä), whip-crackers, cowbell ringers and horn players, collecting donations for charitable projects, before gathering for a procession on the village square.
